Capturing originality for that one-of-a-kind, unique sound.
TransJazz is a Metro-New York City based gospel band that creatively uses contemporary jazz and other music styles. This intergenerational and interdenominational band is composed of nine-members with a unique style that has been described as “Sade, turned on to Jesus.” In 2004, EBL released Transitions, the debut CD album of TransJazz CD featuring their own very talented singer, Vanessa Daley-Johnson, along with guest artists Meg Okura, Ron Brown, and Ragan Whiteside. Since that time, TransJazz has performed at over seventy events, including seven concerts with legendary singer Melba Moore. TransJazz was nominated for two Urban Gospel Music Alliance awards. In 2010, the band released their second CD album, New Day, with the theme of hope. Recently, TransJazz added two great young talented musicians: Franceska Marie, a stand-out gospel singer with gift for jazz; and Stephen Kopp, a world-class classical pianist who also has a great talent for gospel jazz. Using all this variety of talent, TransJazz is writing and recording new songs to be part of their next CD.
